Try liveable wages. Maybe Dallas is offering liveable wages, but I can say that the phone calls I'm getting (and my unemployed Oracle guru husband are getting) are so far below what is liveable it is heinous. $20-30/hour 1099 (so you're losing $1.00-2.50/hour for self-employed FICA) for a writer that has 10 years, UML, every product Macromedia and Adobe make and IT writing.

I'm keeping old clients happy and marketing my husband like crazy! Minnesota is not wage-friendly for those of us with experience. And children. I'm actually going to do a stand-up routine at a Comedy Club this month for prizes and cash. I need to keep the horizons open and I was a theatre major. LOL!
