TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Congrats on your recent accomplishment. Education can never hurt.
However, no degree will create opportunities for you. You must
create your own. So, I would ask, what employment opportunities are
you looking to create? While I know that as a recent grad, your
primary concern is probably landing a gig, any gig. Try to think big
and long term. Where do you want to live? What industries are
prevalent in that local? What are your loves and passions? Do you
enjoy software? hardware? Are you interested in starting your own
business or would you be happier working for an established company?
I think the answers to these questions will begin to point you down
the right path. Just keep in mind, there is no right path.
Best of luck,
Bryan K. Johnson
