Generally, I hate reading PDFs online (I download them and read
them locally), but I regularly PDF Word files of 5-6Mb and with
the right Distiller settings end up with PDFs in the 200-400k range.
Acrobat files are almost always much smaller than the source files
they're created from.

I have a doc in Word 2003 that is almost 3 MB and growing. It has lots of
cross-references, bookmarks, and footnotes. No graphics. What would be the
best way to publish it on the Web? Someone advised me that a pdf this big
would take a long time to load. Another person said a pdf was a good idea.
