>From my experience all companies do this. Small companies can't afford
to have driftwood in their ranks, either, so it may not be layoffs
that keep the doors revolving, rather forced exits of a variety of
other sorts (forced burnout, denial of promotion, low raises, and
others). Large companies are more visible when they do this, but small
companies do it as well. You just don't hear about it in the news.
"Startup XYZ had a 20% reduction in force today, as nearly two people
were invited to seek work elsewhere." Doesn't have the zing that the
same RIF would if it were a 10,000+ person company.
