Well, to be fair, my first techcomm-related job involved producing
camera-ready copy using hot wax for illustration placement, and
drafting pens for callouts. And that was in 1995-6. ;-)
I'm glad I had that hands-on experience, though. It gave me design
insights that I don't think I would have learned (on the job)
otherwise.
