I, too, have recently been introduced to SnagIt and, as a result, am
wondering how I ever did without it.
For the record, I've been using Windows graphics apps dating back to
Windows version 1.03 (a runtime version of which shipped with the first
version of Aldus PageMaker).
Runtime Windows, now that brings back horrible memories.

I've used SnagIt before. I am currently using a PrintKey2000/Photoshop/Illustrator combination to capture and label screen shots, and while the end result is okay, the procedure is entirely too complicated. Unfortunately, it was a short term contract and the contract is coming to a close, so I had to work with what I was supplied. With that said, had the contracting organization purchased SnagIt, it would have actually saved them money because I could have produced more (and probably at a higher quality) over the duration of the contract.
