Yes, I understood that. But someone who is an SME in the same
field may be able to listen to a fragmentary spewing of ideas and
fill in the blanks from his/her own technical knowledge to form a
more coherent explanation that can be fed back to the client in
hopes of getting a "That's it!" response. You can flowchart and
DTD till the cows come home, but sometimes there's just no
replacement for being able to hear A, D and F and know right
off what B, C, E and G-Z have to be in order for the idea to
work because you've done something similar yourself.

There are different flavors of client-from-hell, Gene. In this case, the problem is getting her to articulate her ideas in words, period. I mean the words do come tumbling out (can you say logorrhea?); they just don't form articulate thoughts. Big right brain; not so much on the left. She uses lots of pointing and a certain amount of shouting. I don't think I want to find someone who speaks THAT language ;-)
