Peter has a great idea. My new position required me to know Frame, a
program that I hadn't used for a number of years. To get back in the
swing of things, I took a previous Word-based effort and converting it to
Frame. It was frustrating as hell, but the experience gave me an
excellent foundation for the interview...and was one reason I got the job.
I was able to both talk about and show my new employer what I started
with and the end product. Since it's often not possible to use material
from previous jobs (this stuff was from a state agency and I had the
agency's permission to use it), grabbing material from the public domain
allows you to do the same...a before and after.
