Peter Sturgeon wrote, " When my wife and I sign a letter, we choose
horizontal, then alphabetical, which puts her on the left. Makes us look
like peers."

I found that interesting and nice. When my wife and I sign a card or letter,
if I wrote it, my name comes first and if my wife wrote it, her name comes
first. We found that it helps to clarify things for family and friends,
especially in email and printed letters where the handwriting is not a
differentiating factor.
