I remember reading this when it first started circulating the bulletin
boards and the early "Net." A colleague of mine who was an early
subscriber of the online service Prodigy (does anyone remember Prodigy?)
sent copies of this memo to everyone in the office over e-mail. I've
heard the same claim as Clare that this was intended as a serious
bulletin, but there's a part of me that has a hard time believing it.
I've always had the suspicion that it may have been a frustrated
engineer's attempt at making a subversive backlash against the early
days of the "political correctness" movement.
