My ideal would be to have a staff consisting of technical writers,
editors, technical illustrators, developers, publishers, and IT
engineers.
Writers - focus on developing content.
Editors - focus on detailed editing of what writers produce
Illustrators - focus on providing clean, consistent, accurate
illustrations in support of content development
Developers - focus on building sample applications, integrating Help,
and maintaining code-side documentation
Publishers - focus on producing all deliverables for all writing projects
IT - DBA or like role supporting a CMS
This is an ideal, but will likely not be a reality outside of very large shops.
