I was approached about setting up an InDesign template for importing XML output from AuthorIT. The scenario is that the development department uses AuthorIT to produce product data sheets and the marketing department wants to publish a product catalog that uses the information from the data sheets (but in their more artistic layout and combined with other content).

The company has hired someone who has modest InDesign skills, but they feel it would be more efficient to have me set up the template and document the workflow for the operator.

In reviewing InDesign documentation, this looks like it should be a straightforward task. But I haven't done it before. So if there are any hidden gotchas you know about, I'd like to hear about them before I submit my proposal.

The client will be doing the XML export from AuthorIT and will be providing sample files for me to work with. As I understand the process, I have to create frames with tags that match the tags in the imported XML; I have to set up styles that correspond to those tags; and, if the input is properly structured, everything else should flow automatically. Is that about right?
