There are several "it depends" factors here, and various respondents
have done a fine job of explicating them. Depending on the contract
terms, walking away early (after the all-important communications with
the manager and agency that others mentioned) may be both appropriate
and ethical.
But one "walk away" argument that's been suggested needs countering. The
fact that Company A (and perhaps Companies B, C, and D) have screwed you
in the past _in_no_way_justifies_ doing the same to Company X.
The argument that "businesses all lack integrity and commitment to me,
so why should I feel obligated to honor my contract?" is a grossly
unfair assignment of collective guilt, a lame excuse for your own lack
of integrity, and indicative of a chip-on-the-shoulder attitude that
calls for some honest self-examination.
"It's my opinion and it's very true."
