Re: Flare
I have been a Framemaker user since before some of you were born :-) I
go back to Frame 1.2x on the X Windows system. I am currently using WW
Publisher to convert a very large document (600 pages) to HTML. In my
opinion WW has the worst customer support in the business. I feel
strongly enough about this, that I want to change to a tool, Flare,
produced by the former RoboHelp developers. Maybe the tool goes by a
different name for a Framemaker conversion but the company (Madcap) is
the same.
There's a WWP-Users group that might be able to help you in the short
term. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wwp-users
Does anyone have experience using this tool to convert Frame to HTML
help?
Not extensive experience as of yet, but the new version does support FrameMaker.
Yes, I know this is a relatively new tool. I am not too worried because
I know the abilities of the original Robohelp development team. I'll put
my money on them.
IMHO, that's a good bet to make. They are a very customer-responsive
team. And yes, they know their stuff.
And yes, I know my file is much too large and needs to be broken up but
I inherited this mess and I am trying to fix some of the problems, one
problem at a time.
600 pages? In FrameMaker? Oh, that's nothing... :-)
