The Dell Latitudes are nice...I have one and I can keep 6 or more
applications open (including FM) and not notice any degradation.
Just make sure you don't get one with an explosive battery.
Seriously, we use Gateways in our home office and have absolutely no
problems with them, even with multiple applications open (its the
RAM). I have friends that swear by Apple, and now that you can run
Windows software on them to, they might be something to check out.
John has a good point...go to the Dell, Gateway and Apple websites
(and any other you might think of) and make some comparisons. See
which one offers the best model for the price for the work you intend
to be doing, then google to find sites that offer customer feedback on
how good those products hold up under real life working situations.
