how do you
handle the matter of showing samples of previous work
if your previous work is proprietary content?
---
I solve that by doing "mockup" manuals for my own amusement and designing
projects that I would like to be paid to work on, then doing similar
projects as a volunteer for selected not-for-profits with the understanding
up front that I'm going to post the results in my portfolio.
This works for me because I am just obsessive-compulsive enough to enjoy
such super-organization games in my free time.
I keep a portfolio as a Yahoo invitation-only group. I can customize and
load a new targeted portfolio in less than an hour. Have not had a problem
with any unwanted readers crashing into it.
I'm told that I was hired for one project because the hiring manager was
particularly impressed with my ingenuity and talent for finding fee-free
solutions.
