I tend to think that sort of Spam is the 21st century equivalent to the
print ads that read "Make up to $1400/mo part time!" I remember seeing
them posted on campus when I was an undergraduate. A broke
undergraduate who needed beer money. And so I went to the
presentation-come on, y'all, some of you have done this, and you know
how it ends. They want you to go door-to-door selling knives (that you
have to buy first) or spend your summer selling encyclopedias (where
they provide you with lodging and their own transportation-there was
something cultish about it).
One of these days, just for the halibut, I'm going to respond to one of
these ads, but probably not. Outside of work, I tend toward indolence
and indulgence.
