Not being an attorney, I can only offer my uninformed opinion. Sounds like
someone somewhere at an employment agency had a super bad idea. I wouldn't
sign the agreement. I'd look elsewhere for opportunities. Basically, I don't
think any negotiation is in order either. I'd say forget about it
(remembering the agency's name) and just look elsewhere. It would be
interesting to hear what an attorney might have to say about this kind of
thing.

To my uninformed ears, the agreement smacks of agencies that will offer you
work only if you pay them first.

An agency just email me an employment agreement to sign with two unusual
clauses:

1.) I agree to pay the agency $2000 if I sign the agreement and then
change my mind and do not show up to start work.

2.) I agree to pay the agency $2000 if I leave the contract job before it
is scheduled to be completed.

Have you had any experiences with employment agreement clauses like such?
Thoughts?
