Nope... don't have me drooling at all. I've got little or no chance of being
involved in any profit if the product takes off in a new marketplace and
don't dream of becoming a dot-com gazillionaire. I suspect the absolute best
I could anticipate would be that they offer me a staff position for less
money than I make now. I doubt the parent company is considering divesting
itself of us... we don't contribute much to their bottom line but we're a
good solid fit in their product line. We enhance the company's primary
products.
However, thinking about this whole thing a little bit more over the last few
days, I've realized that I'm probably also up against the typical resistance
of engineering types to what they consider frills. Engineering types tend to
believe that if you can show the product has good specifications then it's a
foregone conclusion that people will buy the product. What they often forget
is that it's not usually engineering types who sign the purchase orders.
