For the HTML output, the least expensive solution is Word. No, don't
scream. If you have Word 2003, use File > Save As > Web Page, Filtered.
That strips out all the crud Word adds to its HTML files to enable
round-tripping with no loss of non-HTML data. It still won't look like
Dreamweaver or hand-coded HTML, but it'll do. If you're using Word 2000,
MS has an HTML Filter for Office 2000 download that does the same thing.
For PDF (I assume you don't have Acrobat, or you wouldn't ask, and it's
not cheap), Google "word pdf converter free" (sans quotes) and check out
your options (note that some are only free for non-professional use or
are trials). I've been using Acrobat for years, so I really don't know
anything about which alternatives are best.
HTH!
