Others have suggested for review purposes but there might also be a need to
publish documents to Word, let field engineers edit/update them, and then
convert back to store the 'master' in FrameMaker?

We convert some of our product docs to Word to allow deployment staff to
tailor the docs to the clients application (based on a customised version of
our OTB product), so it's feasible that some changes could come back that
way.. Not good, but feasible ;-)

Subject: Framemaker to Word and back to Framemaker?

I have just heard about a contract position to create Framemaker documents,
convert them to Word, and then convert them back to Framemaker.

This is a new one on me.

Does anyone know why anyone would *want* to do that? I am mainly curious,
as I have never worked in a Frame shop where we did this, except to convert
the documents over to Word because they were going to stop using Frame
altogether.

If anyone is interested in a contract position doing work like that (it's in
Florida), let me know and I will pass along the information off list.
