In an interesting parallel, while editing the User's instructions for a
consumer product, I checked out the  onsite software updates: downloaded the
new software and installed on the product.

It overwrote one of the original functions!

Not only that, it was the function the product was specifically designed to
perform (LOL now, but ...).
