I recently(ish) bought a Canon digital camera. I had a couple of
thoughts about the documentation.
GOOD:
1) English and Spanish manuals were in separate books. I was able to put
the ones I didn't need into the recycling bin as soon as I opened the box.
2) Manual (for each language) divided into two small books. I don't have
them with me at work, but the gist is something like "simple stuff you
need to get started" (thin) and "more complicated stuff you may care
about eventually" (thicker).
BAD:
1) Too much manual switching. YMMV, but once I've been sent to the "more
complicated stuff" manual, I don't want to have to refer back to the
"simple stuff" manual. One switch is enough. This may mean a little bit
of redundancy. So be it.
Biggest problem of all is, of course, remembering to use it. I'm still
far more inclined to run into the house and holler "come out and see
this awesome butterfly!" than to think "ooo, I must get a photo of that
butterfly".
