Reminds me of a college professor I once had that had a thing for "toward" vs. "towards." Use of "towards" in any paper was an automatic five points off. She did such a good job of hammering it into to us that to this day, I only use "toward." And everytime I see "towards" used by someone else, I want to jump up and scream.
