Good point, Richard! I'd Google and research in a *real* library "basic
job finding research" and of course, "entry level tech writer job
requirements."

More in-depth research could include asking for an informational interview
with a company that hires tech writers. You could go to the hiring source
(HR Dept.) and ask for their qualifications in detail, in person, AND go
to a writer or two there to ask what they do, how they do it, etc. More
than basic research also includes asking people on this and other
listservs for info...you're on the way.

There's a link I think somewhere in Techwhirl w/ job requirements for TWs.
