Well, first of all, thanks to Geoff, Dan and Stephen for posting replies so quickly.
Second, I am able (so far) to recover by highlighting each table (let?s see, that?s Alt A > c > t), then selecting Arial in the font box in the toolbar at the top of the screen. I notice, though, that in some cases, only part of a column of this table or that was changed to Times Roman. Go figure.
Third, under Tools > AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat as You Type, the box for ?Defines styles based on your formatting? was already unchecked, so I left it that way.
Finally, I created several styles for these three manuals:
* Body Text 1 (10 pt Arial with no indent)
* Body Text 2 (10 pt Arial with 0.50-inch indent)
* Heading 1 and Heading 2 (both Arial Bold) for generating nice TOC?s
* List 1 (10 pt Arial for numbered lists)
* List Bullet (10 pt Arial for guess what)
I use Normal (also 10 pt Arial with no indent, but somehow with slightly different other spacings and I don?t know why) for all tabular text only. And there are no images or graphics to muck things up even more.
This recovery should take only an hour or so to do, but I still hate doing this.
Let's see how the rest of the day goes.
