Concerning Leonard Porrello's question about whether
he should add more information to his "System
Requirements" page, which now contains only:
Windows
Linux
Macintosh
I must respectfully disagree with my esteemed
colleague Richard Combs (Hi Richard, how's life at
Polycom these days?).
I also prefer the minimalist approach, but in this
case each line requires one more element: the version
or range of versions on which the application is known
to work properly.
There are bound to be people out there is still
running ancient, creaking versions of these operating
systems, and some of them may be your customers. Is
your product going to work on Windows 95? Probably
not.
Your software QA team can tell you what versions of
each OS they have used for testing the product. That
is the safe answer to the question of which versions
of each OS will let you use the product successfully.
