The way I look at it, I get "compensated" for it every time
my phone rings or a message from someone wanting to
know if I'm available for fulltime or consulting work lands
in my email. Currently I'm not doing much over 40 hours
per week and am bringing in enough that I've been
declaring myself "booked up" to most inquiries, but IMO
most of this demand is the direct result of all those extra
hours I did for past employers and clients who still give
my name to anyone who asks if they "know someone."
Sometimes OT compensation is just deferred. :)
