That's the problem with trying to "redefine" things.
No matter how many authoritative references one
can point to, for the vast majority of people, "IT"
means the helpdesk folks you call when emai
and the network go down.  There's a reason why
engineers developing computer HW and SW
don't go around telling people they work in the
"IT industry."
