Yes, having a naïve user test procedures is really important. We almost released a quick start guide that told users how to do all the complicated hookup and connection steps, but never told them to turn on the two devices being hooked together. At least one test user forgot to turn on one of the devices, and couldn't get the product to work until his teenage offspring came into the room and flipped the thing on.
