<<it is not grammatically incorrect to end on a preposition>>

A while ago, I researched this. Indeed, every grammar resource I
consulted said it is now considered OK to end a sentence with a
preposition. And I agree. When writers struggle to follow the old
Victorian rule (NEVER end a sentence with a preposition), they often
come up with incredibly awkward sentences.

I'm always amazed at the lengths some people go to avoid ending
sentences in prepositions. I once edited a book where the writer
scrupulously followed that old Victorian rule--always. Of course,
everything else in the book was a grammatical disaster. But, hey, the
author always followed the preposition rule!
