Well, you know what they say -- you either have time or money; never
both.

Enjoy your vacation, and figure God is telling you that you need a
break!!

Yes, the agency should have told you, esp. since they gave you a list of
holidays.
But, it is not uncommon for companies to do this, either. 

Sleep in a little, go for some lovely winter walks, and let the finances
take care of themselves -- they usually do.
