Lauren speaks sooth.
My previous job was one such.
Recruiter: Hello, this is XYZ from ABC.
Me: Yes? . o O ( Who? )
Recruiter: I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, but
apparently the person at the company who is handling your application
had a bereavement. They really like your CV, and would like to
interview you as soon as possible.
Me: That's great news! . o O ( Which company? What position? When did
I apply? Are you sure we've talked before? ) I'm fairly available,
when would they like to talk?
Recruiter: They've suggested Xpm on the Y, is that OK for you? We'll
send you over a link to their website.
Me: . o O ( Oh thankyou, thankyou, a clue! ) Yup, that's good for me.
I'll have a good look through their website to prepare.
Recruiter: Marvellous! Call me afterwards.
The recruiter never did find out that I had absolutely no idea who she
was* or what the job was :) I got it, though; in fact, they went 7K
over their maximum salary to secure me. I still have no memory of
reading the job description, talking to the recruiter before, or even
submitting the application. I have not ruled out accidentally slipping
into an alternate dimension.
These days I keep much better track!

* I originally wrote 'who I was', which given my state of confusion at
the time may even have been true.
