Subject:Editor for Outlook From:"McLauchlan, Kevin" <Kevin -dot- McLauchlan -at- safenet-inc -dot- com> To:<techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Fri, 19 Dec 2008 11:15:56 -0500
Does anybody use something other than Word as the editor for your
non-plain-text MS-Outlook e-mail writing?
For bonus points, does anybody know if I should be using a different
version of Office 2003 if I'm on a 64-bit machine running XP Pro X64 ?
Word's been acting wonky for me lately - I mean wonkier than usual, even
for Word. The company is still standardized on XP and Office 2003.
They won't supply or support Vista or Office 2007 or beyond.
I hate having three or four Word documents lock up while Outlook (with
half a dozen e-mails open with Word as the editor) dithers about its
server connection or something. But I can't just go to 100% plain-text
mail because this is an office (and Office) environment where people use
a lot of fancy text and inclusions for legit business reasons. Also, I
like to refer to "text items in red" and "bolded items" and "the items
in monospaced font below" when I know my favorite Product Mangler will
be reading plain-text-only on his Crackberry and not have a clue.
