On one of the listservs I'm on (can't find the original message) someone
posted a question about using WordPress (commonly used to host blogs and
now websites) as a documentation platform for a HAT.
I thought you might be interested in the help from Microsoft One Note
2010 (beta), which is actually built on WordPress. While the rest of
Office 2010's documentation is built with the same help system as Office
2007, this one is a bit different. You can see it at http://www.onenotehelp.com/
I've also worked with a web-based application, and for them, while it
can only be edited internally, their online documentation (which
generates results very similar to RoboHelp or Flare) is actually built
using Mediawiki (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki).
The interesting thing about all of these are that, while they require
knowledge of the systems, the tools themselves are free. Of course they
require the right people to run them.
Are you looking for one documentation tool that does it all? Author,
build, test, and publish your Help files with just one easy-to-use tool.
