If you simply replace "then" with "and," you change meaning even though
you improve the grammar. "Click XYZ and press Enter" does not mean the
same thing as "Click XYZ and then press Enter." Personally, I prefer,
"Click XYZ, and then press Enter." Along with being grammatically
complete, the pause created by the comma further reinforces to the user
that he is doing two things, one after another. And finally, while what
Chris said is certainly true, I don't think anyone is going to think you
messed up if you use "correct" grammar and punctuation.
