Take heart, fellow warrior. I've had other problems with
cross-references to bookmarks. If the referenced item ever gets moved
from the original location, Word can't find the original item. Worse
than that, sometimes the referenced text gets planted in the space
where the link to bookmark is.
I had to use a macro to wipe out all my cross references, and manually
reinsert them.
<sarcasm>Fortunately I have absolutely nothing better to do with my
time.</sarcasm>
