The potential problem I foresee with this approach is that inevitably there will come a time when the "some people" who think a certain "bad practice" choice is good will be the people a writer is working for. Depending on the specific situation, they might actually be right, and even if they're not right, you know that old saying about the boss always being the boss. In these multiple-choice "what should I do" scenarios, my usual advice is to find out what the SOP is in the working environment, make suggestions for improvements if the powers that be are amenable and if not, pick your battles judiciously. I've seen too many people get on the wrong side of someone who can do their retention serious harm by trying to do unwelcome process improvement.
