A new "old" email client-- Eudora Open Source Edition
Subject:A new "old" email client-- Eudora Open Source Edition From:David Neeley <dbneeley -at- gmail -dot- com> To:TECHWR-L <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Sat, 22 Jan 2011 09:52:20 +0200
In antidiluvian times, I used the email client Eudora, which I liked
very much. Unfortunately, some years ago Qualcomm stopped development
and it grew increasingly long in the tooth--and meanwhile, of course, I
moved nearly all my online activity to Linux.
Recently, however, a new incarnation of Eudora has surfaced that is
multi-platform and free--Eudora Open Source Edition.
It's based on the Mozilla Thunderbird code (with some tweaks), so it
fully supports the various Thunderbird extensions.
Eudora OSE supports multiple email accounts and has a number of other
very nice features. I'm using it as a front end for my Gmail account
presently--and once again having the uce of folders alone is a welcome
revision.
