You've heard the old saw about how the person who acts as his own lawyer has
a fool for a client?
Your company needs to have someone on staff who is qualified to perform
regulatory audits and testing and issue certifications, or should contract
with an external agency that is, such as TUV. In many countries (the UK is
especially picky on this), the person who signs off on your company's claims
of regulatory compliance can be charged with homicide if a product kills
someone and is determined to not be in compliance.
NEVER insert a regulatory compliance statement or logo (CE, UL, etc.)
without having the required certification documents. If you are asked what
is needed, your answer should be "I am not qualified to make recommendations
in that area" unless you have credentials for your industry that say you
are.
