Subject:Re: Job searching in this time of attrition.... From:Gene Kim-Eng <techwr -at- genek -dot- com> To:Craig Cardimon <craig -dot- cardimon -at- gmail -dot- com> Date:Mon, 3 Oct 2011 11:29:29 -0700
The most important thing at a time like this is don't try to do it all
alone. Actually, that's the most important thing at most times, but it's
even more so now. Don't avoid your friends and family and don't try to put
on a brave "I'm ok" front if you're really not ok. Hopefully, you have at
least one friend who's the sort who will periodically drag you out of the
house, buy you lunch and give you a kick when you need one to keep you
focused. Hopefully, you have been such a friend to others in the past and
you have some karma coming.
Most of my thoughts about networking are, unfortunately, "locking the barn
door" stuff that probably wouldn't help now, because the time to establish
your networking contacts is really when others need you more than you need
them.
If you really want to hear about the barn door stuff, or if you find
yourself anywhere in north San Diego County one day and need the lunch or
the kick, email me off-list.
