Oh, a bit more info:
I'm not sure where the font files came from, but when I went looking for
sources myself (theorizing that perhaps there's some problem with the font
files that were sent to me), I found one set here:
http://www.ffonts.net/Futura-Thin.font.download -- and indeed, in the
Information section the non-printing characters do NOT appear in the
Characters list, unlike the Characters list for the other fonts I happened
to check.
So I guess a font doesn't have to include those chars, and if it doesn't
then Word has no way to display them of course.

Hello, TechWR-L-ers,
The oddest thing happened today: in a Word 2007 doc I changed the cover pageâs
title to the font the client specified: Futura Thin â a PC version of a True
Type font (as sent to me by the client). And then... although I still have
all my formatting marks showing in the doc, they do not display for the
Future Thin paragraphs: no paragraph marks, no space chars, nothing!
Itâs indeed just this font â if I change the style back to the old font, the
formatting marks reappear.
This happens whether or not the text is in the regular body flow or in the
cover pageâs title text box, and it doesnât matter whether I change the font
in the style definition or just do a manual font change.
Any ideas why the non-printing/formatting chars wouldnât show for a given
font?!?!
Itâs not a big deal for the cover page, but after this deliverable I need to
convert the entire set of doc styles to this font, and I sure donât want to
have to work in a doc where I canât see any of the formatting marks!
