TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
The situation is actually much better than you might expect. Help & Manual supports ePUB format and Flare offers publishing for "Mobile (iPhone, Microsoft Mobile, Palm Web OS, BlackBerry and Android)." This means that you can easily take your existing content in either one of these HATs and, in a few minutes, repurpose it for a smartphone or tablet.

But the funniest bit has been trying to figure out how to author help for all these apps and basically realizing "Oh, so we need to go back to like 1999 in terms of the HTML code and design and all? Simple, HTML based pages?" If you depend on all the bells & whistles offered by the high-end tools, you may have trouble trying to figure out how to now live without those things that are not supported or just not desired in app help. But if, in 1999, you had to deal with simple HTML-based content (Can't use graphics because of download limits? Minimum embedded code? Etc.) it's nothing new. And clearly written statements are more important than ever.
