Are there sites where I might get an idea regarding freelance rates and sample contracts?
If you're a member of STC, the CIC SIG (Contractors and Independent Consultants) is a great resource. They have a lot of things online about freelancing, and the CIC SIG email list members have been very generous with their advice and detailed comments on specific contract issues.
