Subject:trademark/reg. marks in titles on covers ? From:"Monique Semp" <monique -dot- semp -at- earthlink -dot- net> To:"TechWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Thu, 8 Mar 2012 09:38:03 -0800
Hello, TechWR-L-ers,
Although the client is of course the ultimate arbiter, Iâd like to ask if thereâs a âstandardâ for whether or not to use (r) or (tm) symbols in a docâs title on the cover page?
Does the answer change for a companyâs name vs. a product name?
If I include the (r) or (tm) on the cover, does that count as âfirst useâ in terms of not needing the symbol at first use in the actual documentâs text?
If anyone has any sources to cite (vs. personal experience and generally informed opinions), Iâd certainly appreciate those references.
Thanks,
-Monique
