Subject:Word 2007 - adds bookmark to auto-correct (tm) in text box... From:"Monique Semp" <monique -dot- semp -at- earthlink -dot- net> To:"TechWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Thu, 8 Mar 2012 11:57:05 -0800
Hello, writers,
Well this is an oddity! Itâs not really an issue, but I wanted to see if anyone had any explanation â well, a logical explanation, beyond just, âthatâs the way Word does things and weâll never know why!â
This happens only in text inside a Text Box, not in regular body text. When I type the characters left paren-tm-right paren, Word auto-corrects it to the TM symbol, including putting it in upper-case. Excellent. But... I recently set the view options to show bookmark symbols, and so now I can see that Word is deciding to encase the auto-corrected TM symbol inside a bookmark.
But... this does not happen if I use the Insert > Symbol dialog and select the TM symbol.
Any explanation? What might Word be thinking (as if any of us could divine that)?
Just wondering,
-Monique
