"Exhibit"? really? That sounds ultra arcane scientific... I think other people have been using "Figure" since about 1902.
In Word, if you set numbering properties for Figure titles, you can indeed add cross-references that link to the page number. (in the [Word7] Cross-reference dialog, set Reference type to Numbered item; then set Insert reference to: to Page number).

What is the standard now for referring to images in the file? Word won't make a link to a page number, and I've been using (see above) when the image is above the text.
Also, for User Manual type documents, are people now using "Figure" for captions? The document I inherited uses "Exhibit."
