i wouldn't release a doc' without having proof read it from start to finish (ad nauseam…).

If you don't, then as sure as the world, you will find out too late that the original author had at least one place where a string of blank spaces was used to set up indentation or centering of text. If you do a "replace all" someone later will find the place where that long string of blanks was removed and now there is content that is misaligned.
