Subject:Re: Word 2013 - FILLIN field not visible in DOTX From:Debra Kahn <kahndebra -at- gmail -dot- com> To:Chris Morton <salt -dot- morton -at- gmail -dot- com> Date:Mon, 28 Apr 2014 15:31:29 -0600
I have three ideas that get you part way there:
- You can show all your fields in gray - on your machine - through your
Advanced Word Options menu. (Right-click on the ribbon and select
"Customize the Ribbon"; then select "Advanced" on the left nav bar in the
dialog box.) Select "Always" for the "Field shading" option in the "Show
document content" section of the box. Alas, this viewing option isn't saved
in your template.
- To get a disappearing user prompt (not a pop-up), I use a no-macro Macro.
{ MACROBUTTON NoMacro "User Prompt" } It works as long as your prompt is no
longer than one line.
Alternatively, you can always use a text-based content control. (You have
to have the Developer tab displaying). Again, no pop-up prompt, but the
fields are visible in your template.
