I find there are lots of issues with the interaction of Mavericks and
just about everything in the known world. Even the latest 10.9.4 has
issues. If Mac is that finicky even that little bit, I wonder if it
could be interacting differently with Acrobat as well.
Have you considered trying another machine running Snow Leopard (most
stable version), or the new beta of Yoz-eh-mite?
I notice David's machine is running 16GB RAM. Maybe that makes a difference?
